The Villa San Giovanni (RC) Railway Station is located on the Salerno - Reggio di Calabria line, and is a railroad yard of national importance. It is the main arrival and departure point for passengers heading from the mainland to Sicily and vice versa as well as for all goods transported by rail. The station is equipped with 6 through tracks used for passenger service, and all trains departing from or destined for Reggio Calabria or Sicily stop there. The intervention area of the present project phase includes the Station Square, the Building Travelers, the Station platforms, the existing Underpass, the pier level yard interposed between the railway embankment and the area of the maritime encroachments, and the area of the maritime encroachments.
