The station design focuses more on the station concourse in particular in the cladding and renovation of the offices and services. In the inner courtyard, a new technological roof will be built, the pavements and shelters will be repaved and renovated, and new pedestrian paths will be created outside. The courtyard-garden is the core of the project as it connects the station to the city of Palermo and its historical domes and is therefore an opportunity to reinterpret the historical features of the great station, to re-live what which is today a non-place as a real public space, and to open up far beyond national references towards international ones.
